So this was 100% inspired by Annalise’s adorable picture of these two. Her Graceling art is always perfect and after seeing her Katsa/Po picture I really wanted to take a stab at drawing them play-wrestling being overly-excited puppies <3
(I’m sorry for being a copycat but play-wrestling! So cute! I just couldn’t resist.)
Also, if you are not yet aware, it is Katsa/Po ship week :D

gorgeous art right here everyone!!

Katsa/Po, ink:

She sees other men with other tattoos on their arms in Lienid, and Katsa can acknowledge perfectly well that they are also beautiful. Their ink is also strong. But none of them are ever Po.

Katsa/Po, pine:

Sometimes, Po regrets every choice he has ever made that has led him to this shack, surrounded by these pines, vision replaced by visions. He regrets the lies the worst. Sometimes, though, he sits and thinks of Katsa, and simply pines.

So I just finished reading Graceling last night sometime before midnight and I really just needed to draw Katsa and some of her outfits. She is just such a wonderful character oh my goodness I could go on for hours why I love her. Po is probably next.

Quick doodles of some dorks from Kristin Cashore’s book Graceling.
Po and Katsa. I like to think Katsa ends up cutting her hair shorter and shorter and Po grows increasingly more amused each time.

The Princess - G, Katsa/Po, prompt was domesticity and this is what came out. Drabble.

Sassy Po and Katsa
I find it so amazing that Po comes bombarding into the life of Katsa (who hasn’t really laughed or had fun.. well, EVER) and it’s she’s like what is this sorcery with Po and Po’s just all casually poking fun at this stone-serious girl who could potentially kill him in a matter of seconds and just blargjksdfhlkjasdf
bottom line
i love these two

Though I have one complaint.

WHY is Fire brown-skinned in this?

I have nothing against brown-skinned characters (I LOVED Rue from Hunger Games, and Thresh). But this made no sense. Fire is strikingly red-haired, green-eyed woman; on the international covers of the novel, she is a white girl, and I thought it was clear in the book, unless I’m remembering something wrong, that she was light-skinned. Monster or not, I can’t say I’ve ever seen a red-haired black person (or indian, or any other dark skinned culture, for that matter), so it doesn’t fit good with the image most of us already have of her.

It’s like Cashore just sat down and went, “How can I make this appeal to more minories? I’ve got gays, woman’s rights folks, oh, I know, let’s bring in some blacks and/or indians. Everyone from the Dells is now dark-skinned. Okay, that’ll work! Coffee break!”

You CAN’T do that! I mean, as a writer myself, I hate when people say that to me, telling me what I can and can’t do with my own writing/characters, but in this case IT’S TRUE.

Characters are NOT Barbie dolls. They can’t change skin colour, eye colour, hair, occupation, etc, without reason. You can’t make an already invented culture from another book different and keep continuailty. It’s confusing.

-A. Lucy on an Amazon review of Bitterblue. http://www.amazon.com/gp/cdp/member-reviews/A1FALNRP7TPE3V/ref=cm_pdp_rev_title_1?ie=UTF8&sort_by=MostRecentReview#R325JMDD31H15N

FIRE AND ALL OF THE PEOPLE IN THE DELLS HAD BROWN SKIN IN THE BOOK “FIRE”. SHE MAKES IT CLEAR THAT PEOPLE FROM THE DELLS HAVE BROWN SKIN AND DIFFERENT COLORED EYES. ALSO FIRE IS A FUCKING MONSTER!! MONSTERS ARE KNOWN FOR THEIR CRAZY COLORED FUR/HAIR. PLUS POC CAN HAVE GREEN, BROWN, BLUE OR ANY OTHER FUCKING COLOR OF EYES OR HAIR, IT’S JUST MORE PREDOMINANT IN WHITE PEOPLE.

Your casual racism is showing. Also I was unsure whether to buy this book, but now I will because your review is ridiculous and sexist, racist, and ableist. You are a terrible human being and you should feel terrible.
